French explorers began traveling down from Canada
in the early 1700s and set up Indian Trading Posts and
built Forts in Pennsylvania, and in areas that would become
known as Ohio, and Indiana. They claimed the land for the French King. However, by the 1730s, English traders, believing that this land should belong to the English King, came west from colonial towns along the Atlantic Coast.
